The theme day on water, held in Brussels on 1 December 2025 and organised by the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences, brought together young researchers working on overseas topics to discuss the growing global challenges related to water.
Through oral presentations and posters, participants addressed key issues such as water quality and pollution, ecosystem impacts, climate change, and water management and governance. The contributions highlighted the increasing pressure on freshwater resources and the complexity of ensuring sustainable and equitable access to water.
Overall, the day emphasized the need for interdisciplinary research, innovation, and international cooperation to tackle water-related challenges, in line with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
